Shelter Application and Intake Form

Terebinth Refuge is a Christ-centered shelter and safe home that brings hope, healing services, and freedom to sexually exploited and trafficked women.

As a shelter program for hope and healing, Terebinth Refuge provides safe housing, longer-term transitional housing, and a variety of on-site services to help women attain their individual goals towards recovery and independence.

We offer 4 areas of care:  Body (Physical wellness), Mind (Mental wellness), Soul (Self-discovery), Spirit (Faith Discovery)

Terebinth Program Components:

  • Terebinth is a program with required participation, rather than a shelter.

  • Our program attends to body (physical wellness), mind (mental wellness), spirit (self-discovery: gifts/skills) and soul (spiritual discovery).

  • We ask that you put employment on hold while in the beginning phases of our program.

Review of Terebinth Program:

6. We ask that you participate in our programming. This includes various therapeutic activities throughout the week which includes weekly therapy sessions and addressing any chemical dependency or mental health services deemed appropriate by your Case Manager. It also includes attendance at all mandatory groups, completion of our psychoeducation trafficking and exploitation group, and completion of our employment program.

7. We are a community-living environment which means you will have, at minimum, one roommate. Furthermore, all common areas are shared with other residents such as: the kitchen, dining room, living rooms, bathrooms, etc. Our maximum capacity at this time is 10 which means you will be sharing our home with up to 9 other residents. Furthermore, Terebinth Refuge does serve children so there may be a child here at the shelter while you are here.

8. Terebinth Refuge is a weapon-free facility. We do not allow dangerous weapons (i.e., guns, swords, clubs, explosives, stun guns, etc.) on the property at any time. You would be responsible for finding a place to keep your weapons for the duration of your stay at Terebinth Refuge.

9. We also do not allow drugs or alcohol on the property, as well as any products containing CBD. We will go through your belongings with you on intake and periodically throughout your stay here to ensure that everyone is safe.

10. We provide all meals for you while you are here, which means we do not have the ability to store food not bought by Terebinth Refuge staff.

11. Terebinth Refuge is more than just a shelter. We have policies and programming as a part of being here. If you do not want to work the program, you are able to leave at any time. In addition, if you are not working on your program/goals, staff holds the right to ask you to leave.

12. Terebinth is a vape free facility. We do not allow any vapes, disposable or refillable or e-cigs.

  1. Terebinth Refuge assists adult, female survivors of sex trafficking and/or exploitation (and their children) in regaining control over their lives and in healing. We are more than just a shelter; we are a program.

  2. Before you arrive at the shelter, you must turn your phone into airplane mode and shut it off. We ask that you please do not do so until you have connected with the staff who will be transporting you to our shelter. Once you arrive, your phone and personal electronics will be locked up until you are on Phase 3 in our program. We do have house phones and a house computer available for your use during your time here. Our house computer is limited to professional use. This is for your healing and to protect our other residents.

  3. During your shelter stay, Phases 1 & 2, we only allow outings for professional, medical, referral, group activities, and healing reasons. Anything beyond that must be pre-approved by your Case Manager. If you have any ongoing appointments out of the St. Cloud area, you are responsible for securing your own transportation for those appointments. We can assist you with transferring your appointment to providers in our area.

  4. If you have a vehicle, it will be parked for the duration of your shelter stay and Terebinth Refuge staff/volunteers will transport you to and from any appointments. In order to bring your vehicle to our home, you must have a valid driver's license, insurance on the vehicle, and proof of ownership.

  5. Due to the program requirements at Terebinth Refuge, if you already have a job, we ask that you put employment on hold during your shelter stay, Phases 1 & 2. During Phase 3 of your programming, you will be able to return to the work force or school. As part of Terebinth Refuge, we also offer the opportunity for employment through our Hope and Healing Store which is operated out of our Transition House.

13. Spirituality: We believe in the power of prayer. Terebinth Refuge has prayer warriors that will pray for you while maintaining strict confidentiality and safety protocols. If you have a specific prayer request for your Prayer Warrior, please let your Primary Advocate or Case Manager know.

This is optional. If you do not prefer this opportunity, please let your Primary Advocate or Case Manager know. Also, since we sometimes serve women who have been satanically and ritualistically abused and for the safety of others, we do not allow satanic or witchcraft practices and any of its forms of paraphernalia in the shelter or transition house.
